Reflection #2

The topic discussions in this class have been very interesting so far. I enjoy reading about the topics that people have strong feelings for because we don’t really talk about it in other classes. From the two essays that we read this week, I enjoyed reading the essay by Derek Bok more. I liked the argument he talked about when he mentioned what happened at Harvard. Two students hung Confederate flags in public which made some students upset. Although we have the freedom of speech to express ourselves, I feel that there is a certain extent as how far we can go. I think that there are certain times where people should keep things to themselves or watch what they are going to say.

  1. I think the last sentence of your post could not be more true. Seeing the small group of students on campus who speak and act so disrespectfully simply disgusts me. I feel like people our age represent the future. So, it is vital that we pick and choose when to cause controversy.

  2. I like the points you presented here. I'm curious as to your personal opinions on the limits which you mentioned, such as, that there are certai times where people should keep things to themselves or watch what they are going to say.
and I totally agree with you, Cory. I think it's very important to understand the cause which you are representing, because what we do now affects the future.
