week 1 reflection
The first two weeks in this class was not what i was expecting. I thought it would be like other English classes where the teacher would talk most of the time and students would not interact as much. I did not expect that there would be a lot of verbal talking, but just writing about different kinds of topics. I like Lauren's teaching style because not only will it help me improve my critical thinking, but i think it will help me with my shyness. I enjoyed listening to the debates that we had so far and i feel like i can learn a lot from my peers. I am not great at giving my thoughts and opinions, but i hope this will change throughout this critical thinking class.

haha yea lauren's class is totally different from any other english classes its much for fun, chill and it really does help you with the shyness
ReplyDeleteI also thought that this was going to be just another typical english class; I was not expecting this much interaction amongst the students. I really like Lauren's teaching style too. Dont worry you shouldnt be shy in this class. (i am the loud girl that you probably always hear laughing)
ReplyDeleteI really like the format of this class. I think I have had a very similar experience in English classes where the teacher would really just teach at you, and not really let the students help teach themselves. Plus having a class in the computer lab is just plain awesome. I really enjoy Mondays :)
ReplyDeleteI really like Lauren's teaching style, too! I took her for English 1A last fall, and I liked the type of environment she creates in her classroom. I found myself really enjoying writing papers for 1A, too. I was really dreading taking English 5 until I saw that she was teaching it. Also, I think we have a great group of people in our class :)
ReplyDeleteDude, her teaching is pretty nice. I mean, usually with english classes I get extremely overloaded with papers, reading assignments, and research projects, and in this class I think I'm learning more than in those because in stead of putting all of my effort in a polished essay, I really get to think about what I'm doing. And better, I get to hear what other people think in a casual stress-free situation. I personally almost forgot that I am fairly shy last class, so hope next time you will too!
ReplyDeleteI oculdn't agree with you more about how Lauren has the class put together. I too was not excited with the expectation that there would be the somewhat standard lecturing I've had in English classes before. I'm also really excited about how the teacher is using the internet. I think it is such a powerful tool that gets overlooked by many instructors. This is the first English class I am actually excited about.
ReplyDeleteI really like Lauren’s teaching style, too. I feel free in her class. Her class is not like the other English class that I have taken—the teachers always keep talking, and what we can do is only taking the notes or thinking. And I like the essay that we have read and will read in this semester. They are not too long, and I can take time to finish reading them. It’s not like reading a novel—always needs me to remember where I have stopped last time and what was that talking about.
